At The Intersection of Computer Drive and Cellphone Way

“Turn right and proceed 3 miles.”
“Great.  Got it.”
“Your fuel level is low.  Refuel soon.”
“Great.  Got it.”
“Fasten your seat belt.”
“Oh yeah.  Great.  Got it.”
“Braking now to avoid collision.”
“Wait a minute!  I’m driving this car.  A computer is not going to control what I do.”

Answer me now.
“Okay.  Got it.”
Check your messages.
“Okay. Got it.”
Text your mother that the traffic this afternoon is crazy.
“Okay. Got it.”

Who’s in control here?

Which route leads to a dead end?

  1. It's hard not to feel the pressure of my "first slice."

  2. Cute! I like how you personified your car's computer and your phone to show how much their demands really do take hold of our lives (for better and for worse!) like (or even more than) real people! Welcome to slicing! It's awesome!

  3. That's awesome--few words with such powerful meaning. Welcome to Slice of Life, Jackie. I love the way you capture what it means to be driven by your car. I love the way you snap out of a computer driven moment to a Jackie driven moment. Don't feel pressured--just enjoy the ride. LOL!

  4. Ouch! what a great way to show how technology has changed the way we drive. No wonder we are distracted and annoyed!
